Bayer in great demand
Bayer is the most attractive employer in Germany in the “healthcare/pharmaceuticals” sector. This
was the finding of a joint survey carried out by consultancy firm Universum Communications and
market research institute Access, the results of which were published recently at the Universum
Award ceremony in Munich.
The online questionnaire was completed by more than 15,000 students of economics, information technology, science and engineering.
It was the fifth time that the Swedish consultancy chose winners in each sector and the
winners from the viewpoint of students of the four disciplines. “We’re very pleased to have been
placed first in the pharmaceuticals category,“ commented Dr. Georg Hartmann, head of Sourcing &
Hiring in Bayer AG’s Center of Expertise “People Development.” In second place was the Max Planck
Society, followed by BASF AG.
In the online survey, students from 86 German universities were invited to nominate their
five favorite companies out of a list of 130. The survey clearly showed what young people expect
from their future employer: unique development opportunities, efficient management and
international perspectives.
Up-and-coming IT experts and scientists were polled for the first time. Biology, chemistry
and physics students ranked Bayer third behind the Max Planck Society and the Fraunhofer Society.
Hartmann: “Garnering third place in the survey of scientists is high praise indeed for our work. At
the same time it encourages us to make Bayer an even more attractive employer for young
scientists."
