Applications for internships should be submitted about 6 months before the
proposed starting date. Fixed deadlines are set for applications for some foreign internships.
These are outlined on the next page.
No. Internships are offered in virtually all disciplines. Internships are
divided roughly equally between technical, scientific and commercial/business disciplines.
Applications must be submitted by March 31 for jobs and internships in the
summer vacation and by October 31 for jobs and internships in the spring vacation. Please include
exact details of your qualifications, e.g. computer skills, and a valid certificate that you are
registered as a student.
We offer a wide range of jobs in offices, labs, warehouses and production
plants, including shift work. Vacation jobs offered to students are temporary. We regret that we
cannot always offer students a job that reflects their course of study.
During the winter vacation, the minimum period is 6 weeks for university
students and 4 weeks for polytechnic students. In the summer vacation, the minimum period of
employment for students and school students is 8 weeks. Students who work for more than 8 weeks are
required to pay full social security contributions.
Students who wish to work for Bayer have to provide details of their health
insurance status. Employment is dependent on membership of a health insurance fund. In the case of
accidents at work, students are covered by the Employer’s Accident Liability Insurance Association
while they are working for Bayer.
Students are entitled to 2.5 days vacation per full month worked. Leave can only
be taken if this fits in with the schedule of the unit in which you work. In view of the short
period worked and working schedules, students do not normally take their leave allowance. Unused
days leave are paid off at the end of the period of employment.
We regret that we cannot provide accommodation for students. However, we are
happy to help them find accommodation via an agency. For interns, we are able to offer a limited
number of places in hostels.
If you are interested in working with Bayer on your undergraduate dissertation
and have agreed the title with your university, you should send an application to us in the same
way as for an internship. The conditions are the same as for internships.
Support for future managers is very important at Bayer, regardless whether they
enter the company via the graduate trainee program or taken on as permanent employees. In addition
to line managers, experienced specialists normally act as mentors to facilitate integration into
the company, provide access to internal networks and act as career development coaches.
