Matthias Hahn
– Coordinator of the MIBS combined training program
From trainee commercial assistant to coordinator of the MIBS combined training program
Training as a commercial assistant
Training as a commercial assistant at Bayer is not a soft option – and that’s a good thing. As well
as gaining an insight into many different areas, trainees get a feeling for the interaction between
individual processes. It’s really exciting to see what goes on the company’s different departments.
Why Bayer
This variety is topped by the business simulation in which trainees have the opportunity to
practice what they’ve learnt in ‘live’ conditions but without risk from the consequences. There’s a
lot to do and a lot to learn. And there’s a great academic program to complement the practical
training.
Further training and new assignments
After completing my training, I spent some years working in event management. That gave me an
opportunity to find out about more aspects of Bayer. And since completing my part-time degree in
business administration that I took alongside working, I’ve been a coordinator for MIBS, a
management and international business studies program that combines vocational training with an
academic degree. I was happy to take on this challenge, which meant returning to work in the
training department. And the fact that I was once a trainee at Bayer helps me in my job - and that
benefits today’s trainees.
