Vocational training and Bachelor degree
(German program version only)
The practice-oriented Bayer study program MIBS begins with a training course culminating in
qualification as a commercial assistant. Parallel to this vocational training program, you begin an
accompanying course in business administration at the private University FHDW in Bergisch Gladbach,
Germany. This 16-hour-a-week course is completed on weeknights and Saturdays.
During the basic study program, you will gain comprehensive expertise in the fields of
business and economics, as well as in various soft skills. The studies finish with the Bachelor of
Arts (B.A.) degree. The training program also includes two foreign languages right from the
beginning.
Foreign work experience and studying for an MBA
Generally, once you have obtained your degree, you will put your knowledge into practice in one of
our companies abroad where you will be given the
chance to take on responsibility from an early stage. Additionally, you will have a chance to
study for an MBA (Master of Business Administration) at one of
our partner universities outside Germany. The focus is on strategic marketing, global finance
and international management. This course ends with a management project, leading to an MBA
qualification.
Financing
During your vocational training, you will receive a training allowance. You will pay an amount
(currently EUR 150) per month towards the fees for the degree course and will also be expected to
finance part of the cost of your period of foreign study. To assist you in this, you will be able
to obtain an interest-bearing loan. This is repayable in equal monthly installments spread over
five years after completion of the program. You will receive a monthly grant during your period of
foreign study. This does not have to be repaid if you work for the company for at least three years
after completing the program. If you leave the company before then, you will have to pay back the
grant (including all associated expenses) either in full or on a pro rata basis.
Your opportunities and perspectives
After completing the study course, you are qualified to assume responsible tasks within the
subgroups of Bayer. Participation in a project management team and foreign assignments prepare you
optimally for your international career.
Your further career at our company could look like this: For example, you might broaden your
knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical sales and marketing through a special three-year
on-the-job development program at a foreign subsidiary of Bayer HealthCare. This would provide an
opportunity to become actively involved in marketing projects a part of a sales team.
Alternatively, you might build on your product management skills by working on the
development and international rollout of product concepts at one of Bayer’s other subgroups. Or you
could move to a foreign subsidiary as an assistant to the head of finance/accounting. With
increasing experience, you will be entrusted with more responsible posts at subsidiaries in Germany
or abroad.
