You will participate in the development of a computer model to simulate the behavior of soil organisms. The understanding of the root uptake plays an increasingly important role for the assessment of the environmental safety of plant protection products. Therefore you will determine the root uptake of plant protection products from the soil into plants. Moreover, you will assess the further distribution and fate of the residues for groundwater exposure and ecotoxicological risks. You will investigate the relevance of pesticides residues on leaching to groundwater following uptake from soil and reentering the soil system after harvest by release from plant material remaining on the field (e.g. roots, stubbles, autumn foliage). Furthermore, you will be working on model development and validation to estimate the exposure of birds and mammals due to root uptake of plant protection products into feed items. You will work in a team on mechanistic modeling and its application in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological area.
