Some people decide very early on where their career interests lie. Tobias Quadt, who has a degree in chemistry and business studies, is a good example: he knew what he wanted to do and systematically pursued his goals. Tobias Quadt took the first steps towards gaining the skills he needed for his chosen career as a high school student: “I spent a year at school in England and chose English and chemistry as my main subjects. I already knew I wanted to go into the business side of the chemical industry and I was interested in working in an international environment," he recalls.

With such a clear idea of his future career path, his choice of degree course was logical: chemistry and business studies. What’s more, he decided to study entirely in England “to improve my grasp of the language and increase my chances of an international career.”

Having obtained a good degree, he took his first steps in the chemical industry through an integrated “Marketing and Sales” internship at a well-known chemical company.

His aim was to confirm that he had chosen the right career before setting out to find a suitable job. “Next, I took a more systematic look at the companies in the chemical industry and developed a clear preference for Bayer.
